Distinguished Guest Duarte Rolo PhD, joins us in our January session to talk about key ideas within the psychodynamics of work, their application in organizational studies, and their broader implications for social dynamics. This interactive session is a feature of our fall/winter study group, The Psychopathology of Work.  ‘Psychodynamics of work’ as a discipline emerged from Christophe Dejours’ early theorizing about  work as an etiological factor in patients’ psychopathology. The 90-minute session comprises comments from Dr. Rolo followed by group discussion.

Duarte Rolo, PhD, is a researcher at the Higher Institute of Labor and Business Sciences (ISCTE-IUL, University of Lisbon), Assistant researcher at the Institute of Psychodynamics of Work, Paris, France, and Assistant Professor at the João de Deus School of Education, Lisbon, Portugal.

Dr. Rolo is a clinical psychologist and doctor in psychodynamics at work. He defended his doctoral thesis on the theme of ethical suffering under the supervision of Prof. Christophe Dejours at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. He has taught at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, Paris Cité University, and various universities in Lisbon, Portugal, where he is currently a lecturer and researcher. His research interests lie at the intersection of psychoanalysis, critical theory, and psychodynamics of work. He is a candidate member of the Portuguese Psychoanalytical Society (IPA) and practices in a private clinic in Lisbon. He also works as a consultant and trainer in occupational health.
